Biology, ecology and use in pest management of Telenomus remus. BNI 21(1)
Back to BNI Reviews
Telenomus remus parasitizes the eggs of several lepidopterus insects. It is currently reared and released in many countries for control of Spodoptera spp. that are crop pests, particularly S. litura and S. frugiperda. The biology, ecology, historical use in pest management and taxonomic quandries of T. remus are reviewed. Suggestions for greater use of this parasitoid and research needed for improving its pest control capabilities in the field are discussed.
