Content and Coverage
Biocontrol News and Information is a news, reviews, commentary and abstract journal designed to keep its international readership quickly and fully informed of current developments in biocontrol. The journal covers all aspects of the use of living organisms to control pest animals, weeds and plant diseases. All biocontrol methods are addressed, including the introduction of biocontrol agents to suppress alien pests permanently ('classical' biocontrol), the mass production and release of biocontrol agents (including natural and genetically modified biopesticides) and the conservation of natural enemies in crops, which is the basis for integrated pest management (IPM). For all pest targets, biocontrol methods and biocontrol agents, the journal covers the following aspects:
- Biology: natural enemy biosystematics, life cycles, physiology, behaviour, mode of action, host interactions
- Ecology: population dynamics and modelling, community ecology, adaptation and genetics, effects of pesticides
- Production and utilization: mass-rearing, host-range screening, formulation, distribution, application and release methods, monitoring and evaluation
- Commercial development, registration, genetic improvement, quality control
- Regulation: biocontrol policy and legislation, quarantine, safety testing, environmental impact analysis
- Education: training, extension, public awareness, farmer participatory approaches
The bibliographic content of Biocontrol News and Information is derived from CAB ABSTRACTS - the World's leading bibliographic database covering agricultural science in its broadest sense - and are also available on disk.
